At the gates of Asti on the ROAD
A road route suitable for both road bikes and e-bikes, passing through San Damiano, San Martino Alfieri, Tigliole, and Antignano. A quick 45 km loop suitable for everyone.
Length: 45,8 km
Elevation: 970
This loop itinerary represents the very essence of the Piedmontese wine landscape. The journey begins in Alba, the capital of the white truffle, and then immediately climbs towards the hills that home some of Italy’s most spectacular castles.
Along the route, history intertwines with modern art. You can admire the majesty of the Grinzane Cavour Castle and the slender shape of the Serralunga Castle. There is no shortage of chromatic curiosities, such as the famous colored house of Roddino, and cultural sites like the Horszowski Auditorium in Monforte d’Alba, an open-air theater nestled in the village.
The tour then touches the heart of wine production in Barolo, climbing towards the La Morra viewpoint, which offers a breathtaking view over the entire valley. Before returning, a must-see is the centuries-old Lebanon Cedar, sentinel of the vineyards.
An artistic tip: For those not afraid of a short dirt section, once in La Morra you can detour to the Barolo Chapel (Brunate). This small, never-consecrated church has become a global icon thanks to the vibrant colors of Sol LeWitt and David Tremlett. The stretch is off-road: from the SP58, take Strada Fontanazza and continue for about 1.5 km through the rows of vines.

I am Andrea, always passionate about cycling, especially road biking. I particularly enjoy climbing, the real kind. I love to pedal and meanwhile see the landscapes that the ascent offers me
